Wow its been a while, but its NBA TIME!!

I'm not right about much in sports. Partly because I'm dumb, partly because I get off on making ridiculous predictions, and partly because sports always teaches you to expect the unexpected. BUT

I do have to say I was right on the money with one prediction and opinion, and that was Tyreke Evans being a stud for the Kings. Before the draft everyone was on the Ricky Rubio bandwagon, and justifiably so. The kid's potential is undeniable, but when Geoff Petrie came back from Europe after a trip to scout Rubio and Brandon Jennings, Petrie was much less interested in both, which had me a bit weary. Outside of Quincy Douby, Petrie's draft record is just about flawless, so I trust his judgement. Enter Tyreke Evans, a guy I had an eye on since winning the McDonalds All-America game MVP in high school. After watching his pre-draft workout with the Kings, I was sold. I understand people's complaint that he wasn't a "true" point guard, and we needed a pure passer like Rubio. The fact of the matter is that he was a flat out stud in his workout with other prospects (flynn), and when you win 17 games in the previous season, you shouldn't be drafting a guy for need, you should be drafting the flat out best player you can get, because 17 wins means you dont have many good players. Besides, how many "true" point guards are there in the NBA that are worth noting besides Nash, CP3, Deron Williams, Rondo, and Baron Davis? Look at some of the last few NBA finals PG's: Derek Fisher, Billups, Tony Parker, Rafer Alston, who are all scoring PG's, not pure passers. Throw in some other good PG's like Devin Harris, Mo Williams, Rodney Stuckey, Aaron Brooks, and Louis Williams, all who are scorers.

I also was somewhat on the Jennings bandwagon before the draft, but knew there was no way we would have taken him at #4. I did not expect him to drop to #10 though. After watching the guy since he was a soph at Oak Hill, he was easily the best HS point I had ever seen (yes, better than CP3, and I watched CP3 a good amount of times in high school games on tv). He was busting moves out that I had never seen anyone do in games. While he did screw himself by "forgoing" his chance at Arizona (some say failed SAT), and did have a poor season in Italy, its not like his talent disappears after a year. Based on raw talent alone I would have figured he would have been a top 6 or 7 pick easy. Way to go Knicks. Jennings + D'Antoni ball would have been a dream come true for Spike.

That is enough on this topic, I apologize for the run on, but I had to because it was the only thing I was right about in sports over the last few months. Also, I'm just very worked up because Tyreke has inspired me to become a better human being.

Best points about the NBA thus far:
-JR Smith changing his name to "Earl Smith" for a game, then changing it back once he probably realized Earl Smith just doesn't sound good.
-Tyler Hansbrough being on the Pacers, meaning America doesn't have to see him, his immaculate hustle plays, and top level intangibles 3 times a week.
-Tiger Woods doing it with porn stars. Wait, thats not NBA. Still worth a mention. Kind of disappointing for the most wholesome guy in sports, but hey, at least we still have Tim Tebow.

Do I need to rationalize sleeping?

Over the years I have been a part of many debates, but the most furious deal with the "sleep in vs. wake up early" arguement, which has been fuming for ages. Now, I admittedly am a person who loves sleeping. I don't even know if its fun or exhilarating, because I'm asleep while I do it, but either way it is awesome and is probably my favorite thing to do besides eat. On more than one occasion I've run into people who prefer to wake up somewhat early on the weekends because they "dont like to waste half of their day sleeping". Some of these people like to belittle us sleepers saying it is totally unproductive to sleep in until 11 or 12 on a saturday. My arguement to them: what the heck is there to do at 930am on a saturday morning? Oh thats right, sit around, watch tv, make breakfast, check e-mails, etc. (aka do nothing). Sleeping for an extra 2 hours is 30x more productive than doing that stuff. Not only are you rejuvenating your brain with longer durations of REM sleep, but you are really missing out on nothing by sleeping in. Besides, if you wake up early, you're just going to be tempted to take a nap later, which will cause you to...drumroll....waste part of your day sleeping!! or...drumroll....be unproductive becuase youre tired!!!

Let's recap:

SLEEPING IN-
Pros: Awesomeness, sheer enjoyment, mental benefits, cool dreams, cool nightmares, good exercise, oil free skin, awesomeness.
Cons: None** other than missing out on waffles at your local breakfast joint.

WAKING UP EARLY-
Pros: Pancakes, Waffles.
Cons: Lack of cool dreams, inefficiency, mental lethargy, being addicted to caffiene, insanity, warts, watching saturday morning television.

Well this is a little odd...

http://cbs5.com/watercooler/underwear.month.space.2.1108260.html

Looks like there really is hope out there for those of you who aren't into the changing underwear on a regular basis thing. But before you jump all over these new space underwear, I say give the changing underwear thing an honest try for a couple weeks, I think you'll like it.

It might take me a little longer to fall asleep tonight...

So I enjoy reading about new technology and where our advancements in the field are headed. I also enjoy randomly scouring the internet for ambiguous information at late hours in the night. The combination of these two enjoyments led me to a startling discovery. A discovery that made me regret my cat like curiosity for the night. Just when I thought nothing could be more creepy than aliens, bot flies and sewer creatures, I stumbled across this: (view at your own discretion)

While I realize that these are unbelievable leaps foward in the realm of technology, (it is cool in that sense) I dont understand how you could work with those all day, go home at night and not have hallucinations of it behind you in the mirror, or hearing it faintly talking somewhere down the hall. It will be interesting when this kind of AI gets introduced to the public in the future, as im sure they would improve efficiency in many facets, but more importantly they would be creeping the shit out of 95% of the population, which could lead to a less productive labor force.

Who doesnt love to dress up

Since his days ballin back at the U, I have been a Clinton Portis fan, but that has been increased over the years by a few factors: his good consistent play, great fantasy league numbers, and most importantly his extravagant alter-egos. Portis is known for regularly dressing up in costumes for his media interviews, with the most recent sisqo-like look perhaps topping the rest. Between his mean game, and his fearless fashion, I really respect what Clinton Portis is bringing to the table. Expect CP to be my #1 fantasy pick come late august.

Guys, Check this out

I found this from Big Suke of 1080 the fan, but it is something that all men need to call their attention to. This is a list of 23 skills every man should know. If you are a man's man and know most of this stuff, then thats great, but for the things you dont know, it gives you an idea that there is work to be done and critical knowledge to be acquired. If you dont know the skill, the site gives you directions on how to complete each task, which can come in handy as a refresher down the road. So if you arent too adept with consoling a crying baby or shopping for women's clothing, now is your time to shine. A good one to bookmark for the dudes, and for the handy women (hot).

Test your might

Greetings

Whats up internet. I have felt the need to hit you with my totally riveting thoughts and ideas on a consistent basis, so thats why the earth formed this blog. I will do my part to live up to its incredible billing. Anyways, if you dont know me, some of my more appealing interests are sports, funny stuff, and shoes...so prepare for heavy doses of that stuff, but I'll try to keep it real with other genres of material.

What better way to start off a blog than with an advertisement! I am in no way associated with this product, but you are crazy if you do not consider buying one. Talk about an instant conversation starter in a quiet car ride.
